Chocolate Fudge cake that feeds the soul October 3, 2009

chocolatecake-main_FullLast night I had gotten both the kids to sleep and was so happy to be cutting my hubby and I a piece of cake. I had just put them on the plates, poured us each a glass of milk and was about to carry it all into the living room to have some couple time with Daniel. I heard Anderson start crying. I looked longingly at my piece of cake as I went upstairs and started rocking Anderson. I started wishing him to go back to sleep so I could enjoy that piece of cake sitting downstairs. Then I heard a small voice “Be still and know that I am God.” I was reminded just how blessed I am to get the priveledge of raising my sweet baby and how these moments are fleeting. Holding him, loving his sweet little being, and looking at his cute face made me realize how I should not be in a hurry to eat a piece of cake that will in no way contribute to my jean size. So I enjoyed the moment. Fully. I prayed for him and his big brother, prayed for Leah, and gave thanks for the many many blessings in my life. Who says Fudge cake isn’t good for you?

So I have found a Korean program in our area that is acutally still open and the time frame is fast. I am talking 18 months from application to “gotcha”. We are trying to go to an info meeting in a week and a half. I know Korea is trying to shut down it’s international adoptions so waiting on this program is not an option. And they would escort us our little girl here to the U.S. I am really really excited about this and praying we can start this program. Please pray for us! In an 18 month time frame the reality is, her little heart could be beating. Please pray for her as well! Thanks friends!

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:1-2

Banana Bread for Baby August 28, 2009

I just made a loaf of my homemade banana bread. Yum. It is the best according to my hubby and kids. I had this idea……. Maybe I could sell my banana bread to raise money to bring Leah home. I would post a picture of my bread but hubby is out with the camera. Anyway, my secret recipe uses 3 whole bananas so I love it because it gets the kids some real fruit in their diet. What do you think?

IMG_7216And I did not get anything done for the adoption. Boo. I did get Jack a haircut and entertained Great Grandma all day. Tomorrow I have ALOT to do.

f.y.i. – And just for added fun, our agency is having us get info on our basement renter because immigration may or may not need it on him. Poor guy, he has to get a physical, fingerprinted and a background check. Just more paperwork…..

IMG_8865Today is Thursday. Second day of my blog. I am still trying to navigate thru this thing. Have not figured out many many things. But at least I can post!
Not too much to do for the adoption today, except go and get a few $5 money orderes to send in our security checks. Oh and I need those notarized, hmmmm…maybe more to do than I first thought. I have written out my twelve page front and back autobiography, Daniel has not started his yet. I have a feeling it will be me typing his out asking him to answer his questions as I type. Oh well – anything to bring Leah home sooner!! I want to get our packet out hopefully by the end of next week so I can set up the first homestudy meeting. There will be 4.
Anderson and Jack slept pretty well last night. I have to get Anderson immunized today, too. I guess there is alot to do today.
Will leave you with another pic of my boys. Oh and thank you coffee for your caffeine possibilities.

Jack and Anderson

Jack and Anderson

Wow, I have a blog.  This is amazing, my sister will be thrilled.  I guess I shoud introduce myself to all the thousands, j/k, that will most likely read my funny, witty, smart blog.  My name is Elisabeth, stay at home mamma to Jack, almost 4, and Anderson, 12 mos.  We have just and I mean just started our international adoption journey to bring home Miss Leah from China.  Almost have our first set of papers completely filled out and will start our homestudy soon, hopefully.

I am so so excited about the adoption.  It is really all I can think about and I do feel bad for family and friends as I have been way distracted.  Poor Anderson almost fell down the stairs yesterday as I was sitting deep in thought in his bedroom and did not realize the door was not fully shut.  Oh dear.  I hope this is normal.

Today I had my physical and got my tb shot testing, lots of blood drawn and weight – gulp.  Almost passed out after the bloodwork as a result of no breakfast due to the weighing in.

Well, I hear Anderson has woken up.  Will definately be blogging more later today.  I could get used to this.
